Sheringham Little Theatre unveils new-look summer season

A race-day comedy is set to be a firm favourite as a seaside theatre unveils a new-look summer season.

Sheringham Little Theatre’s programme during July and August will combine drama, music and family fun, boosted by pop, puppetry, magic and a laughter show.

Among the plays is Ladies Day, which follows the antics of four fish filleters who swap their hairnets, overalls and wellies for finery and fascinators as they head to a horse race meet for a flutter and flirt.

Theatre director Debbie Thompson said: “We are extremely excited about our new-look summer season for 2025.

“We have listened to what our audiences wanted and have made sure we have a variety of events to suit all ages and tastes, while keeping our popular summer theatre. “

The traditional dramas kick off with the affair-driven plot twisting farce of Ding Dong (August 8-16), followed by Ladies Day (August 20-26), then Alan Ayckbourn’s bitter sweet comedy Absent Friends (August 28-September 6) where bereaved Colin is thrown a tea party by his friends.

Popular Norfolk comedy duo Olly Day and Nigel “Boy” Syer return with their If It’s Laughter You’re After show (July 18) mixing mirth, music and magic which was a sell-out last year.

On July 11-12 the venue is also hosting a brand new work looking at how the legend of Sherlock Holmes began. It is penned by writer and producer Laurence Akers, in conjunction with actors Lewis Roberts and Ryan Starling who have been involved with previous summer comedy productions of the Hound of the Baskervilles and Three Musketeers.

Puppetry gets a special spin with ultra violet light action in the Puppet Spectacular family show with lots of colourful characters, music and action (July 19).

Soul, disco and funk fans can boogie to the 70s and 80s hits of bands such as Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Odyssey and Chic in the Peanutz Party featuring a live band on July 25, and there is a Total Pop Party (August 15) featuring four singers recreating the music of modern day pop legends such as Little Mix, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

Jaw-dropping illusions combine with panto-style fun and storytelling from Just Josh in his Totally Amazing Magic Show for family audiences on August 26.Tickets, and details of these and many other shows are available through the theatre website www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com or call the box office on 01263 822347.
