The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has launched its West Norfolk Winter Campaign, designed to help residents stay informed, safe, and prepared throughout the winter months.
The campaign brings together essential advice and updates on council services, festive arrangements, and community support.
Key Information for Residents:
- Christmas Opening Hours: The King’s Court council office is closed between Christmas and New Year. For emergencies such as homelessness during this time, call 01553 616601.
- Waste & Recycling: Bin collection days will change between Christmas and mid-January. There will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day. Residents are encouraged to check their revised collection dates online and use food waste caddies to save space.
- Festive Recycling Tips: Wrapping paper recycling is easy—just “scrunch it to sort it.”
- Flood Safety & Winter Readiness: Advice on preparing homes for flooding and severe weather is available online. Simple steps can help families and businesses stay safe.
- Housing & Cost of Living Support: Guidance on homelessness, housing applications, council tax, and benefit support is available on the campaign webpage. Emergency contacts remain in place during office closures.
- Winter wellbeing: Shares of messages through partner channels, like Lily, of how to look after your mental health during the colder months.
- Partner messages: Support for partner organisation campaigns, like Norfolk Police, Fire, NHS and Norfolk County Council.
The campaign will run across the council’s social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, NextDoor and X.
Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet member for People and Communities, said:
“Winter can bring challenges for residents, from severe weather to festive waste. Our West Norfolk Winter campaign ensures everyone has easy access to the information and support they need to stay safe and prepared.”
