Two Sheringham RNLI members receive their 20 year long service medals

Two of Sheringham RNLI’s team recently received 20 year long service medals for services to the RNLI – Steve Howes, tractor driver/mechanic and Mick Holford, former treasurer and collection box secretary.

Mick, also a former Sheringham Shantyman, first joined the RNLI in 2004 as Deputy Treasurer and took over as Treasurer in 2009, continuing until 2015.  Mick said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my various roles in Sheringham RNLI and I found that over the years the Crew at Sheringham RNLI have been a fantastic help to me through the loss of my first wife, my open heart surgery and welcoming Sheila, my second wife.  The crew at Sheringham have all been a great source of friendship and camaraderie and I am very proud to be a part of the team at Sheringham.”

Brian Farrow, Sheringham Lifeboat Operations Manager said “I want to extend my deepest gratitude and sincere congratulations to Mick & Steve on achieving their 20 year service medals with the RNLI at Sheringham. Their dedication and unwavering commitment to the principle of saving lives at sea has made a profound impact on our community and beyond.

For two decades, their tireless efforts have not only safeguarded lives but also inspired countless others to join in this noble mission. Their experience, wisdom, and professionalism have been invaluable assets to our team, and their legacy will continue to guide us for years to come.

On behalf of us all I wish to thank them for their extraordinary service, exceptional dedication, helping the RNLI to continue to implement its fundamental principle of Saving Life at Sea.

It is a privilege to work alongside these guys and call them friends.”
