Get active at Cringleford Outdoor Gym this autumn

Residents are being encouraged to make the most of free outdoor fitness facilities in South Norfolk, with a programme of activities launching at Dragonfly Recreation Ground in Cringleford this September.

Outdoor gyms located across the district provide an accessible and cost-free way for people of all ages and abilities to improve their health and wellbeing. The equipment can help users build strength, improve balance and mobility, and increase overall fitness while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.

South Norfolk Council portfolio holder, Kim Carsok, said: “Outdoor gyms provide a fantastic opportunity for residents to improve their health and wellbeing free of charge and close to home. I am really delighted that we can bring this support to Cringleford and encourage more people to discover the benefits of being active outdoors.”

A series of drop-in sessions will take place at the outdoor gym at Dragonfly Recreation Ground, Cringleford. The Council’s Help Hub team will be on hand to offer free advice and support on staying active and healthy, as well as information about local services that can help residents improve their wellbeing.

The drop-in sessions will take place:

• Every Wednesday from 16 September to 21 October
• 12.30pm to 3.30pm
• Dragonfly Recreation Ground, Cringleford, NR4 7JR

No booking is required and residents can simply turn up to:

• Try out the outdoor gym equipment
• Learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively
• Receive advice on staying active and healthy
• Find out more about local support services

Free group sessions are also available for community groups, organisations and residents who would prefer to learn in a small group setting. Delivered by a Broadly Active Fitness Advisor, the sessions provide guidance on how to use the equipment safely and confidently.
