Walk Norfolk 2024

Walk Norfolk 2024 is an access-friendly month of walking events taking place right around the county.

Running from 29th September – 31st October 2024 it will feature a wide range of guided walks including town ,city, countryside, forest and coastal walks. All walks are heritage and nature-themed and are all guided by Walk Leaders. Daytime, weekend, evening walks are included.

You will be able to :

-explore the pubs, the dark side and the Black History of Norwich,
-conquer the three peaks of Sheringham!


-Experience a canoe and walk alongside the river in Thetford


-gaze in wonder at the bio-fluorescence in nature at several locations
-marvel at microscopic mushrooms
-try Nordic Walking
-discover and taste some of Norfolk’s native plant flora
-take in the colours, textures and details of the surroundings on a sensory walk
-family friendly walks planned for half-term week (more to follow)

The majority of the walks will be access friendly and open to all, with many of the walks covering distances of 1 – 4 miles. Two walks will be mobility scooter friendly – at Lyndford Forest and Thetford Forest. Each walk is graded.

Walk Norfolk 2024 will also feature 31 daily self-guided walks covering all areas of the county. Available on the website from October 2024.

Walk Norfolk 2024 is being organised by Pathmakers, a local Norfolk-based charity which is dedicated to improving access to the Norfolk Countryside for people of all abilities and backgrounds. Pathmakers seeks to enable communities to get outdoors and connect with nature, which in turn will have a positive impact on their health and wellbeing.

WalkNorfolk 2024 has received support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Norfolk County Council. A number of organisations have joined up as partners for the walks including The Broads Authority, Norfolk Rivers Trust, The Brecks Fen Edge & Rivers Landscape Partnership Scheme, Reveal Nature, Norfolk Archaelogical Trust, Central Norfolk Ramblers, Friends of Thetford Forest, Swaffham Museum, Greater Yarmouth District Council.

Simon Fowler, Chair of Trustees at Pathmakers says “We are pleased to be bringing another exciting and diverse walking festival to Norfolk in October. We are building on the success of the last two years, and we are offering walks across the County for all abilities. There really is something for everyone in the programme.
