Two Norfolk legends with deep local roots and a shared passion for preserving tradition while embracing the future have come together in a perfect coastal pairing. Lacons Brewery is now officially pouring at Cromer Pier.
Dating back to 1760, Lacons is a name steeped in brewing history. Silenced for 45 years after being shut down by a major metropolitan brewer, the Falcon rose again in 2013, when the team at Lacons reopened the brewery and revived eight original yeast strains from the National Yeast Bank, a remarkable act of resurrection that brought Norfolk’s brewing heritage back to life.
Today, their award-winning beers, brewed with Norfolk’s finest malted barley and a commitment to quality and innovation, are enjoyed across the UK. But nowhere feels more fitting than Cromer Pier, home to the UK’s only full season end of pier show and an icon of British seaside culture.
This partnership brings together two independently run powerhouses, united not just by geography but by a deep respect for heritage, craftsmanship and the people who keep Norfolk’s spirit thriving. Whether you’re watching a variety show in the Pavilion Theatre, tucking into lunch at Tides Restaurant, or soaking up the sea air with a pint in hand, there’s now another reason to raise a glass at the end of the pier.
Sean Garrett, General Manager at Cromer Pier, says:“We’re proud to serve Lacons, not just because it’s fantastic beer, but because it represents something bigger. Like Cromer Pier, it’s part of our cultural fabric, and it’s come back stronger than ever. That’s a story worth toasting.”
Lacons joins a growing list of locally sourced suppliers working with Cromer Pier’s venues, as Openwide Coastal continues to champion regional produce, sustainable practices, and authentic visitor experiences.
