Two enchanting family fantasy stories are among the offerings in a new season of shows being staged by Sheringham Little Theatre.
The Little Mermaid will be the venue’s annual Easter youth musical show, running from April 7-11, after youngsters at the venue’s drama groups suggested the popular show.
It features singalong songs and colourful characters ranging from mermaid Ariel and her human heart-throb Prince Eric to comic crab Sebastian and evil sea witch Ursula.
A community cast of all ages will perform Wind in the Willows, in the special setting of the grounds of Sheringham Hall from May 16-17.
Local playwright, poet and TV scriptwriter James McDermott is penning a new adaptation of the timeless tale of Mole, Ratty and Badger trying to help Mr Toad, which was last staged by the theatre’s youth groups seven years ago.

Theatre director Debbie Thompson said the new outdoor production will be completely different – with audience members following the action around the hall grounds, set in the midst of Sheringham Park, as the action is played out by a four-strong professional cast, bolstered by local actors.
“It is a fabulous setting that is perfect for the countryside adventures of the characters,” she added.
The show is being done in partnership with the Norfolk and Norwich Festival Love and is part-funded by the Love Your Market Town initiative.
Debbie also said extra tribute band shows were being added to the new programme covering January to June due to popular demand. The other highlighted shows are in-house productions that are fund-raisers for the charity-run community arts venue.
Among the upcoming 2026 shows is a double bill of two Alan Bennett Talking Heads monologues on February 28. A Cream Cracker Under the Settee stars Sarah Westlake as an old lady who contemplates her past and future following a fall.

A Bed Among the Lentils features Bev Taylor as a vicar’s wife who finds a vision of God at the local off licence.
And on March 27-28 there’s a new show – an Old Time Music Hall with the audience encouraged to dress in Victorian clothes, with well-known local am dram actor Peter Howell as master of ceremonies.

Other highlights for the first half of 2026 are:
- March 7 – Songbird Fleetwood Mac tribute band
- March 11-14 – Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime by the Little Theatre Players
- March 20-21 – Supersonic Queen tribute band
- April 17-18 – Abba Sweden tribute show
- May 1-2 – Elvis Memphis to Vegas tribute
- June 24-27 – Sandcastles – a comedy revolving around a seaside beach hut.
