Make Holt welcomes new owners Chris Taylor & Leanne McColm

Make Holt, a unique concept store nestled in the heart of Holt, has recently changed hands. Situated in the historic old Shirehall building just opposite Byfords, this beloved business will now be run by Chris Taylor and Leanne McColm, who are excited to take the helm and continue the shop’s legacy.

Founded in 2020 by Aviva Leigh, Make Holt was created with the vision of providing a relaxing and beautiful space to showcase the work of local artists, designers, and makers. The shop supports over 50 independent local creators, offering a unique blend of handmade, individual pieces. Visitors can find a diverse range of products, including ceramics, glass, textiles, paintings, prints, artwork, candles, books, hand turned wooden vessels and greeting cards.

Chris Taylor, a lifelong North Norfolk resident, and Leanne McColm, both residents of Sheringham, bring a wealth of experience and passion to Make Holt. Chris, a well-established professional photographer and filmmaker, is also a member of the Sheringham Shantymen and a dedicated supporter of all that North Norfolk has to offer. Leanne, also a professional photographer with a keen eye for design, will manage the shop’s daily operations with Chris’s assistance while he continues to run his photography business.

Both Chris and Leanne are active members of the RNLI Sheringham Lifeboat crew and share a deep love for the coast and countryside. Chris, who spent ten years as a pupil at Gresham’s School from 1980-1990, is thrilled to reconnect with familiar faces in Holt.

Chris and Leanne expressed their excitement about the transition: “We are really pleased to be taking over this wonderful space and continue to support local makers. Aviva has created something very special, and we intend to maintain the momentum while also offering some creative workshops and look forward to being a part of the wonderful shopping experience Holt continues to offer.”

Make Holt remains committed to its mission of supporting and showcasing local talent, and Chris and Leanne look forward to welcoming the community into the shop. They are eager to uphold the shop’s reputation as a cherished destination for unique, handcrafted goods.
