Helping to keep Broadland free of litter

Broadland District Council’s Big Litter Pick 2024 has come to an end with 20 local groups, clubs and associations winning £200 each to benefit their community.

From April to June, over 500 volunteers from across the district collected 321 bags of rubbish and recycling weighing roughly 2.247 tonnes.

Councillor Jan Davis, Cabinet Member for Environmental Excellence, said: “People come from all over the country and beyond to enjoy the beautiful countryside that’s right on our doorstep. We are fortunate to live in such a wonderful part of the world and it’s vital that we look after it. I’m delighted that so many groups took part this year and I would like to thank them all for doing their bit to keep Broadland looking neat and tidy.”

Broadland District Council provided advice and the equipment needed for the litter picks and collected up the bags of rubbish and recycling.

All the names of all the community groups and schools that registered to take part were entered into a draw to win a share of the £4,000 prize fund. Every group that took part was also given a £20 voucher to be spent on their group, charity or local community.

The winning groups are as follows:
