This month marks a proud milestone for Reepham-based, CQC-registered Heart to Heart Home Care as the local home care provider celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Founded in 2016 by Carolyn Woodrow, a local Reepham resident, the service was created after years working within other home care organisations. With extensive experience in domiciliary, dementia and end-of-life care, Carolyn became increasingly concerned by care models that prioritised speed and profit over people. Carolyn believed strongly that individuals deserved unhurried, relationship-led support built on dignity, respect and compassion. Starting small enabled her to focus on building trust and delivering truly individualised care – values that continue to shape the service today.
Carolyn set out to create something different: a small, community-focused service centred on genuine relationships. Her vision was not only to treat clients with dignity, but also to look after staff properly, ensuring they felt valued, supported and able to deliver care without being rushed. A decade later, Heart to Heart has grown into a trusted, community-rooted provider supporting older and vulnerable people across Reepham and surrounding villages to remain safely and independently in their own homes.
The celebrations are made even more special by the recent award of an “Excellent” rating in a PAMMS (Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution) inspection carried out by Norfolk County Council, recognising outstanding standards in leadership, safety and overall quality of care. Central to this success is the team. At Heart to Heart, staff are not “just carers” — they are highly trained Care Professionals.
While companionship and a friendly face remain important, their role is far broader and more skilled than many people realise. Today’s home care professionals monitor wellbeing, recognise early signs of health deterioration, support safe medication administration, understand safeguarding and mental capacity legislation, and act as a vital link between families, GPs and wider health services. As pressure increases on hospitals and GP services, community-based care plays a crucial role in preventing admissions and supporting safe hospital discharge.
The business remains proudly family-run, with Carolyn’s daughter Emily managing the office and ensuring smooth day-to-day coordination, while long-standing team members such as Danni (Senior) help maintain the warm, consistent culture clients value so highly. Staff celebrated the anniversary at The Kings Arms, with a beautiful cake created by Meadowsweet Cakes, to be shared with all clients and their families.
