Profile
This December, the heart of Norwich will be aglow with creativity, community spirit and festive cheer as St Peter Mancroft Church hosts its much-loved 9th annual Christmas Tree Festival in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Norwich St Edmund.
The Festival kicks off on Wednesday 3 December 2025 at 6.00pm, when the Lord Mayor of Norwich will switch on the lights of over 30 uniquely decorated Christmas trees in the church. Then from Thursday 4 December to Monday 15 December the general public will be able to see the church transformed into a winter wonderland of trees each decorated with loving care, creating a dazzling forest of twinkling lights, colour and wonderment.
The trees will have been purchased and decorated by local business, educational and other organizations with a view to showcasing the work of their establishments in the local community and also raising funds for local charities, with the main recipients being “The Hamlet”, “Friend in Deed” and St Barnabas Counselling Centre.
The public will be invited to vote for the best decorated tree and there will be a “Hunt the Elf” competition for children.
A large Memorial Tree will also be erected in the church. This “Tree of Memories” will provide an opportunity for members of the public to make a dedication in memory of a loved one during the Festival, as well as the weeks before Christmas.
The decorated Christmas Trees can be enjoyed by the public from 10.30am to 3.30pm. But on
Thursdays and Saturdays, the opening hours will be extended to 6pm.
Admission will be free, but donations will be welcomed.
