The Revenues and Benefits team at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has raised £700 to donate to The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House charity.
Raffle tickets were sold £1 per strip with all proceeds going to the charity, based in Hillington near King’s Lynn, which provides free care, comfort and compassion to adults in Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire living with life-limiting illnesses and support for their carers, families and friends.
Colleagues Claire Shehu and Karis Blewitt started an employee raffle for their department, but this soon grew into a whole council affair. They had 45 prizes on offer with many contributions from local businesses, including vouchers from Mems, Cake Company, a family photo shoot from Whitters Pictures, a facial gift voucher and three full-size Nancy-Belle products and Rum Tasting Kit, courtesy of The Rusty Krab Rum Bar, alongside many more prizes donated from staff members.
Cllr Alistair Beales, Leader of the borough council, who made the draw for the first few winners said: “I’m grateful to Claire and Karis for organising this raffle. Many of our staff got behind this raffle and, through this donation, they are helping support residents in our community.
“The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House are well respected. Hopefully donations like this will help them with the vital care and support they provide local residents.”
Claire Shehu said “This couldn’t have happened without each and every one of you who participated, bought a strip, or simply spread the word. Your contribution will make a real difference to Tapping House and the vital work they do.”
“We would also like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful local businesses who generously donated such fabulous prizes, helping to make our raffle even more exciting: From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make this event such a resounding success.”
