The Sheringham Shantymen are proud to announce that their fundraising efforts throughout 2024 have raised well over £7,500 in support of the RNLI. The funds were collected through a series of highly successful concerts, including performances at St Peter’s Church in Sheringham and Cromer Pier, alongside various other events and collections across the year.
In addition to their concerts, The Shantymen’s popular merchandise line contributed nearly £500 to the total, with a portion of proceeds from t-shirts and hoodies going directly to the RNLI. Fans can now purchase Sheringham Shantymen merchandise year-round from Make Holt (https://www.makeholt.com/collections/sheringham-shantymen-merch), expanding availability beyond live gigs for the first time.
Brian Farrow, the group’s musical director, highlighted the deep-rooted connection between The Sheringham Shantymen and the RNLI, stating: “There have always been very close ties between The Sheringham Shantymen and the RNLI. We are proud to have supported (and continue to support) the RNLI since 1990 and have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the institution since the group was founded. The Sheringham Shantymen were originally started by members of Sheringham RNLI, and the tradition continues today with a number of the group being serving RNLI lifeboat crew volunteers.”
This year, The Shantymen further celebrated their support of the RNLI by producing a special recording of the RNLI anthem ‘Home from the Sea’. The performance, which can be viewed on YouTube, has resonated deeply with audiences. The group also participated in numerous events to support the RNLI, continuing their proud tradition of serving the local community.
As they look ahead to their 35th year of music and maritime advocacy, The Sheringham Shantymen remain dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the lifesaving work of the RNLI.
