Social star Teacher Tommy T takes on Nelson’s Journey Walking Challenge

Norfolk’s childhood bereavement support charity Nelson’s Journey hosts a 17-Mile Walking Challenge in September, and one of the county’s biggest content creators is getting involved.

Taking place on Saturday, 20th September, the walk will start in Aylsham and follow the Weaver’s Way to Cromer on the North Norfolk coast, with the route taking walkers through two stunning National Trust estates and a host of idyllic Norfolk villages.

Teacher Tommy T, as he’s known to his social media audience of a combined four-million followers, is among those already signed up.

“I am truly honoured to be supporting Nelson’s Journey and the incredible work they do. This organisation means so much to me because I have trusted my students to their care, and I have seen first-hand the practical and emotional support they provide.

“Nelson’s Journey is a fantastic charity that helps children and young people through bereavement, giving them the tools and encouragement they need to find their way forward again,” he said

“To show my support, I am taking part in a sponsored walk to raise both awareness and vital funds for the charity. Being part of this effort means a great deal to me, and I am looking forward to helping more people learn about the life changing difference Nelson’s Journey makes in the lives of young people facing grief,” he added.

A special educational needs lecturer at City College, Norwich, Tommy started making teaching-related videos during the 2020 lockdowns as a way of staying connected with his students. He met King Charles earlier this year after being invited to a Buckingham Palace garden party for well-known figures in education.

There’s still time to join Tommy on the walk and help make a difference to the lives of bereaved children in Norfolk. Entry is £30, with a £100 minimum fundraising target, and is open to over-18s only. Thanks to sponsorship from Bateman Groundworks all funds raised will support the charity’s work.
