SANDS UTD FC NORWICH is a new football club dedicated to supporting fathers, families and loved ones who have suffered the loss of a little one to SANDS – Stillbirth and Neonatal Death. It is heartbreaking and in most cases totally unexpected.
Sands United FC is a unique way for dads and other bereaved family members to come together through a shared love of sport and find a support network where they can feel at ease talking about their grief when they’re ready.
The teams also commemorate their babies’ all too brief lives by proudly displaying their names on the kit worn for every match.
And each team member helps make a difference by raising vital funds to help Sands achieve its vision of a world where fewer babies die, and when a baby does die, anyone affected receives the best possible care and support for as long as it’s needed.

No level of footballing ability is required! We are here simply to meet new friends and support each other in a fun and friendly, zero pressure, team environment. No one will ever be expected to speak about anything they don’t wish to, or will ever be put on the spot to speak about personal feelings or experiences. We might get a bit fitter; some may enjoy a bit of football coaching, but ultimately we will be teammates kicking a ball around and having fun doing it together; teammates who genuinely understand the emotions you may be dealing with yourself.
