Profile
Sheringham Little Theatre is a vibrant, community-driven cultural venue at the heart of the North Norfolk coast, offering an exciting programme of live theatre, music, pantomime and film screenings throughout the year. With a seating capacity of approximately 160, it remains one of the UK’s last traditional summer repertory theatres, it is a rare and treasured part of Britain’s theatrical heritage.
Centrally located opposite Sheringham’s iconic Clock Tower and just moments from the seafront, the theatre is easily accessible by bus, train and car thanks to nearby parking. Despite its intimate scale, it has earned a reputation as a creative powerhouse, welcoming both local audiences and visitors with a unique blend of professional productions and genuine community spirit. Level access to the café, auditorium and toilets ensures an inclusive and welcoming experience for all.
At the core of its programme is the much-anticipated summer rep season, alongside the theatre’s much-loved annual pantomime, both celebrated for their creativity, warmth and professional quality. Across the year, audiences can enjoy a wide range of productions, from light-hearted farce and gripping drama to musical favourites and family shows. The theatre also presents major film releases and live-streamed performances from leading national arts institutions, including West End productions, opera and ballet, bringing world-class entertainment to this coastal stage.
In 2024, award-winning actor Suranne Jones became Theatre President. A passionate advocate for grassroots theatre, she is a regular visitor with her family and plays an active role in championing the venue’s future.
The theatre is also home to The Hub Café and Bar – welcoming, characterful space with a touch of theatrical charm. Whether stopping by for a light lunch, homemade cake or a cup of tea, visitors will find a relaxed atmosphere that reflects the theatre’s strong sense of community. In the evening, this is transformed into a bar that offers a range of alcoholic beverages and themed cocktails.
Rooted deeply in local life, Sheringham Little Theatre is far more than a performance venue; it is a platform for creativity at every level. From youth theatre groups and amateur dramatic societies to community-led productions, it actively nurtures participation and talent. Here, future stars take their first steps on stage, and audiences of all ages discover the magic of live performance in an intimate, inspiring setting.
