A local artist is one of the first people in the UK to offer bespoke pet memorial paintings using ashes. Debbie Storey who works out of her studio in Pulham Market, Norfolk, incorporates a small portion of a pet’s ashes into her hand-painted portraits, creating deeply personal and lasting tributes.
Debbie, who has been painting pet portraits for many years, understands the emotional significance behind each portrait. “Losing a beloved pet is incredibly difficult,” she shares. “I find joy in creating portraits that capture their unique character, and incorporating ashes makes each artwork even more special. It’s a way to keep their presence close, in a really personal tribute.”
Each portrait is lovingly crafted using high-quality acrylic paints on premium cotton stretched canvas, ensuring rich, vibrant colours that endure over time. The addition of ashes creates subtle texture and depth, making every piece not only a work of art but a deeply meaningful keepsake.
Debbie added: “I work closely with my clients to capture their pet’s personality and spirit, guiding them through the commissioning process to ensure the finished piece is something they’ll love and cherish forever.”
To create a portrait, Debbie requires a good-quality photo or photos of your pet, as well as a small amount of ashes. Any unused ashes are respectfully returned.
Debbie offers portraits in a range of canvas sizes and styles, with prices starting at £180 and each painting taking approximately 2–3 weeks to complete.
