Nelson’s Journey launches Purple Picnic summer campaign

People across Norfolk are invited to make the most of the summer weather and raise money for Nelson’s Journey by hosting a Purple Picnic in July, as the Norfolk charity completes a
decade of its annual fundraising campaign.

Be it at school, work, the local book club or at home in the back garden, some will be
remembering a special person that has died, while others will be fundraising to support
Norfolk’s bereaved children and young people.

Purple Picnics can come in many shapes and sizes: From classic picnics in the park to office
Olympics during lunch break, bake off competitions at your weekly WI meet, or an end of
year super picnic to finish the school term in style and get everyone together one last time
before the school holidays.

your event, or just to find out more visit the website at www.purplepicnic.org.uk .

Journey is such an important local charity supporting many families through tough times.”

Horsford Primary School held a very special Purple Picnic at the end of SATs Week. The event was organised across both sites of the school and luckily the weather was on their side! Head of School Mrs Kirton said: “It was a great opportunity to bring the school community together.”

Cakes were donated for guests to buy and the local ice cream van parked on the playground
and had an endless queue from start to finish, kindly donating a percentage of its profits and
combined with two collection buckets and a Just Giving page, the picnic raised just under
£550.
