Mystery Animal Boxes Unleashed at Chantry Place – Join the Adventure!

Chantry Place has been taken over by something wildly exciting – and families across Norwich are invited to join the fun!

On Saturday, the 24th of May, shoppers were treated to a roar-some surprise as volunteers from Break, Chantry Place, Osiris IT, and Keeler Recruitment paraded through the shopping centre with three giant mystery animal crates. With jungle-style fanfare and lots of curious looks, the boxes sparked laughter, guesses, and wide-eyed wonder from families and children.

Now on display at Chantry Place, the mystery animal crates are part of a thrilling new experience, launched ahead of the much-anticipated GoGoSafari trail this summer, that’s sparking creativity and capturing the imaginations of young explorers across the city.

The crates are located in three key spots inside the centre: Boots, Bakers + Baristas and Sports Direct. Each crate features bold patterns and animal clues on the outside – but what could be hiding inside? That’s where the adventure begins…

Children aged 16 and under are invited to take part in a special drawing competition running until Friday, the 21st of June. To enter:

  • Visit Chantry Place and find the mystery animal crates.
  • Collect a drawing sheet from the box dispenser attached to each crate.
  • Use the sheet to draw the animal you think is hiding inside!
  • Submit your drawing by scanning the QR code on the back of the sheet to upload online, or dropping it into the special post-box inside Langley’s store (Lower Ground floor).

Three winners – one for each box – will be chosen by the artists behind the GoGoSafari sculptures. Each winner will receive a £50 Langley’s gift voucher to spend in-store!

Jo Bates, General Manager at Chantry Place, said: “We wanted to do something that would capture children’s imagination and bring families together in a fun, creative way. The launch was full of energy – so many smiles, wild guesses, and excited little explorers – and now we’re really looking forward to seeing the incredible drawings they come up with!”

This activity is part of the countdown to GoGoSafari 2025, the fantastic art trail that will see over 50 large-scale animal sculptures appear across Norwich and Norfolk from 23rd June to 30th August – with Chantry Place proudly hosting six sculptures and 16 mini giraffes.

So don’t miss your chance to be part of the fun! Head to Chantry Place, track down the mystery boxes, and get drawing! For more details, visit chantryplace.co.uk or follow @chantryplacenorwich on social media.
