A Gorleston-on-Sea duo are turning creativity into compassion as they launch a purple-themed fundraising effort to support epilepsy awareness and raise money for The Daisy Garland charity.
In a show of solidarity, one local mum has dyed her hair purple — the colour widely associated with epilepsy awareness — while her son, Toby, has been hard at work designing and producing purple-themed items using a 3D printer. The handmade collection includes a range of 3D printed pieces alongside beaded purple bracelets, all created with the aim of supporting families affected by epilepsy.

Toby was diagnosed with Infantile Onset Epilepsy in 2018. Since then, epilepsy has become a significant part of daily life for the family, inspiring them to raise awareness and support organisations that help children and families facing similar challenges.
Toby, who has been out of school since September due to unmet needs, has channelled his time and energy into the project. The initiative has provided him with a positive focus while also helping raise awareness of epilepsy and the challenges many families face when trying to access the right support.
The fundraising items will be available at Tia’s Treasures Treasure Shed in Gorleston-on-Sea, where members of the local community will be able to purchase the purple-themed creations. All proceeds from the sales will go directly to The Daisy Garland, a charity that supports children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their families, as well as funding vital research and providing life-saving seizure monitors.
The pair hope the fundraiser will not only generate donations, but also spark conversations about epilepsy and the importance of understanding the condition. By embracing the colour purple and combining creativity with community spirit, they aim to make a meaningful difference.
“We wanted to do something positive that raises not only funds but raises awareness too” they said.
The fundraiser is now underway, with purple items available to purchase at Tia’s Treasures Treasure Shed. Supporters are encouraged to stop by, pick up a bracelet or 3D printed item, and help raise both funds and awareness for epilepsy.
