Discount retailer Lathams of Potter Heigham, has launched a bespoke beer in celebration of its 60th anniversary this year. Brew of The Broads has been produced by Norfolk brewery Woodforde’s and is now on sale at the famous discount store on The Broads.
Lathams is a Norfolk institution, famous for its fishing tackle and supplies, as well as discounted homewares, furniture, food, clothing, DIY and pet departments. Lathams was first opened by Ken Latham in 1963 and joined the family-run Norfolk discount group QD in February 1989.
Produced by award-winning local brewery, Woodforde’s, Latham’s Brew of The Broads is a light and refreshing pale ale, crafted with a blend of the finest hops selected by Woodforde’s. Paired with malt blends and splashes of fresh citrus flavours, it is a lightly coloured hoppy delight. The commemorative beer is available exclusively from Lathams, priced at £1.99. Bottles have already been flying off the shelves with Woodforde’s now starting production of a second batch to satisfy customers’ thirst for the product.
John Goldie, store manager at Lathams, said: “What better way to kick off our 60th birthday celebrations than with a birthday beer? We are delighted to have partnered with Woodforde’s, another great long-standing Norfolk business, to create this very special brew. Lathams has been synonymous with The Broads since 1963 and we are delighted to have reached this huge milestone in the store’s history. We’re currently putting the finishing touches to plans for our anniversary weekend, with full details to be announced in due course. We hope Brew of The Broads will whet customers’ appetites in the meantime as we toast the next 60 years!”
Lathams is planning a special 60th anniversary weekend to take place at the store on 23 – 24th September. More details will be announced shortly.
