Profile
The first Morston Music + Words mini festival, to be staged in the North Norfolk village on Saturday 26th July, features famous names from across East Anglia.
Heading the music bill is legendary singer songwriter Ben Brown, frontman for Dingus Khan and Superglu, and now on his first national solo tour. Cambridge-based five-piece band Kobayashi Book Store bring lyrical wit and catchy melodies, while Norwich duo Briggs & Stark add their attractive mix of Americana and indy folk sounds.
The ‘words’ side of the bill is just as appealing, with Dame Emma Bridgewater talking on ‘Morston, Me and Industry’; artist and Tottering By Gently cartoonist Annie Tempest promising a no-question-off limits interview; and award-winning author DJ Taylor reading from his Norfolk based short story collections Poppyland and Stewkey Blues.
Completing the line-up is TV and film intimacy coordinator Lucy Fennell who will be in conversation with actor and improviser Rosy Fordham, revealing the secrets of how intimacy coordinators work, the obstacles they come up against and what they keep in their kit bags!
The event, which runs from 3.30pm to 10pm is being staged to raise funds for local charity Friends Of Morston Church in a village garden on the edge of Morston marshes. Tickets, priced at £25, are strictly limited. Food and drink will be served throughout the event, with the first act on stage at 4pm.
