Broadland District Council’s Big Litter Pick 2025 has come to an end with 20 local groups, clubs and associations winning £220 each to benefit their community.
This year 29 groups organise litter picks with 589 volunteers spending over 1,600 hours litter picking and collecting more than 400 bags (approximately 2,800kgs) of litter.
Councillor Jan Davis, Cabinet Member for Environmental Excellence, said: “ We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful part of the world and it’s vital that we all work together to look after our local environment. I’m delighted that once again so many groups have taken part in the Litter Pick and I would like to thank them all for doing their bit to keep Broadland looking neat and tidy.”
Broadland District Council provided advice and the equipment needed for the litter picks and collected up the bags of rubbish and recycling.
All the names of all the community groups and schools that registered to take part were entered into a draw to win a share of the prize fund. Every group that took part was also given a £20 voucher to be spent on their group, charity or local community.
