Why Spruce Up?
The environmental benefits of upcycling are mammoth, aside from minimising the volume of discarded materials and waste being sent to landfill each year, it also reduces the need for production using new or raw materials which means a reduction in air pollution, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and often a conservation of global resources.
Nothing beats that feeling when you’ve done something great for the planet. Repairing an item and giving it a new life is a great feeling.
Whether you’re upcycling things yourself or buying products from designers, it’s always nice to know that you have something that is completely unique.
A bit about me
I’ve always had an interest in interior design and love sprucing up the rooms in our house. And buying all the little accessories and furniture to go with it!!
I love going to antique fairs and shops, not just to buy, but to get ideas for my next project. A change in circumstances gave me the opportunity to have a go at upcycling my own furniture and bring it back to life.
Before, it was all too easy to sell it, or bin it, because it no longer matched the room or colours. I started with a couple of smaller items, an old coffee table and side table. I was pleased with the results, so I decided to take myself to the auction and plucked up the courage to bid on a couple of bits. And there my new venture began, and I haven’t looked back!
Spruce Up Your Stuff
Mass manufacturing of furniture and the advent of the flatpack means that it’s hard to be different and to stand out without spending a fortune. Upcycling gives you the chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece.
Most of us can’t afford to replace our furniture every time we get bored or want to try something new. Upcycling means that you don’t have to be spending the earth for something new and unique.
When you fancy a change, give me a call. We can discuss what item of furniture you’re looking to breathe new life into, the colours you like and the type of finish you have in mind.
