Discount retailer Lathams of Potter Heigham, is gearing up to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a garden party in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, in partnership with The Museum of the Broads and Stalham Town Council.
On Thursday 2nd June, Lathams is sponsoring a free shuttle bus, which will transport passengers between Stalham town centre, Sutton Staithe, Potter Heigham and the Museum of the Broads to enjoy a fantastic day out in celebration of the Queen's 70 years on the throne. The Museum of the Broads will be offering free admission from 11am - 5.30pm, giving people the opportunity to discover the fascinating stories of the Broads, including the new exhibition 'From Sails to Blades', which explains how wind power has shaped the Broads. Boat rides will also be available on Falcon, the Museum's Victorian steamboat, and Marsh Harrier, the Edwardian style, fully electric launch, for a small additional fee. Plus, there will be performances by the Broadland Ukulele Band during the afternoon.
A picnic area is being set up by the Museum, with Lathams' Flour & Bean Café creating a special 'posh picnic' menu for customers to takeaway and enjoy by the water's edge. The individual picnics fit for a Queen include a choice of freshly made sandwich and cake, with crisps and a soft drink or water, all for £6.50. Pre-orders are recommended for the picnics, simply email the Café on lathams@flourandbean.com or telephone 01692 670275 in advance.

John Goldie, store manager at Lathams, said: "What better way to mark the Queen's Jubilee than with a day out here in the heart of The Broads? We're delighted to have teamed up with Stalham Town Council and The Museum of the Broads to help put on great event for this very memorable occasion. We look forward to welcoming customers to join the celebrations with us!"
Robert Paul, president of the Museum of the Broads, said: "The Museum of the Broads has a long association with Lathams of Potter Heigham and the history of the store is a wonderful story of one man's entrepreneurial skills to create an iconic store in the centre of The Broads. I am delighted to have Lathams' support for our garden party. I am also so pleased to be able to work with Stalham Town Council and be part of the town's programme of events over the Jubilee holiday. With help from both, we will be able to provide a wonderful day of celebrations to mark the Queen's Jubilee, including history, boat rides, live music and great food. It is set to be a day for all to enjoy."
