The 9th Maui Waui Festival Returns to Norfolk!
August Bank Holiday 25-28th August 2022
The Maui Waui Festival of Music and Performing Arts has become one of the most exciting and well-loved creative festivals in East Anglia, attracting around 5,000 people.
Following the success of the new location at Hill Farm, near Dereham, Norfolk, this unique festival has been asked to return again to host its 9th annual festival, during the August Bank Holiday.
The festival has 6 stages and opens on the Thursday night so provides 4 nights and 3 days of entertainment including '80's Ska legends, Bad Manners, New Zealand meets Dutch Prodigy My Baby, Zimbabwe's Accappella choir and dance group, Black Umfolosi, plus Dub Pistols meet Freestylers for a legendy back to back DJ set.
More than 100 bands and acts will be performing this year!
New for 2022 is the freshly built Pirate Ship Mk II - a wooden replica of a pirate ship complete with smoke-firing canons, sails and pyrotechnics that will make the DJ area go with a bang!
Also within the Electronic Dance area is 'The Outer Limits', a collection of space-themed sound systems with world class DJ's including Dub Pistols, Freestylers, Chris Liberator and B2B.
This immersive dance area will be filled with detailed décor, including a newly constructed, huge stainless steel UFO shaped DJ Stage.
On Sunday the festival has an Americana Theme with a special stage hosting some of the countries leading performers of Country, Blues, Bluegrass and American Folk music, including the amazing Rob Heron and the Teapad Orchestra, Eddy Smith and the 507, America's country-folk singer-songwriter, Kate Ellis and the upcoming Forty Elephant Gang from London.
Maui Waui is so much more than just the music; this unique festival boasts a FULL CIRCUS TENT with workshops, displays and shows. Live circus acts also happen throughout the weekend, inbetween the acts on the stages.
Returning again for 2022 is the incredible Living Art Tent and its stunningly creative UK body painting competition. This is where human bodies become the canvasses for these talented body painting artists who spend the weekend creating their themed paintings.
Don't miss the grand cat-walk show on Saturday afternoon on the Main Stage.
Maui Waui is a family friendly festival. Children 13yr and under go FREE! The festival has a huge kids area with a full weekend of free activities throughout the event, including wacky racing, craft sessions, bouncy castles, bubble craft, storytelling and lots more. The little ones will love what's on offer and have full supervision within the special children's area.
There is a special family camping area and also quiet camping available.
This festival really does have something for everyone, its one of East Anglia's best-kept secrets.

Creativity, art and extravagant décor is at the heart of Maui Waui. Months of creative work go into the event, both before the event and on site, ensuring that its 6 venues and many attractions really look the part. This attention to detail is what really sets this event apart from other small festivals, along with the colourful and vibrant folk who attend, all of which makes for an electric atmosphere on the site.
The festival is proud to have a green policy, recycling 80 % of all rubbish on site. They use Solar energy to power the lighting around the site and have ethical trading and food standards, many vegan and vegetarian food stalls plus only charge their food & drink vendors reasonable rates to keep refreshments affordable.
Every year Maui Waui raises money for local charities with charity auctions and other events and has helped charities such as Suffolk ArtLink (for disabled people), St Elizabeth Hospice and
"I made this" - a musical charity as well as many more.
Last year the festival helped raise money for a local Dereham boy called Logan Gostling, who needed to pay for his SDR Operation and rehabilitation.
Maui Waui is a 'feel-good-factor' festival, it is family friendly and all-welcoming, so come along and find out what all the talk is about!
