East Anglian Air Ambulance's Virtual Festive Concert 2020

Event Start Time: 18:00
Event Cost: £5 GBP
Event Location: Your home

East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is engaging local choirs in an online Christmas concert on Thursday 10 December at 6pm in place of its annual Christmas concerts, normally held in cathedrals across the region.

Leanne Kershaw, Events Manager of EAAA, said: "Originally we weren't sure if we would be able to hold a Christmas fundraising event this year, but lots of people have been really supportive of our virtual concert idea and it's shaping up to be a really wonderful evening. We're looking forward to spreading some festive cheer, knowing that our supporters will all be safe and cosy, tuning in from the comfort of their own homes."

The concert will include a mixture of performances, including some readings and poems from relatives of patients the charity has helped and EAAA staff. The virtual event aims to bring people together, safely, to spread some Christmas joy, while raising much-needed funds for the life-saving air ambulance charity, which operates 365 days a year from Norwich and Cambridge.

Sponsored by Birketts, tickets to the concert are a suggested £5 donation. If booked before 1st December, EAAA will be sending guests a printed copy of the concert programme, so they can follow along at home, and a small gift to enjoy whilst watching, to help make the virtual concert more interactive.

Jeanette Wheeler, Partner, Head of Employment, at Birketts said: "We are really pleased to be sponsoring and participating in this year's East Anglian Air Ambulance virtual festive concert. After what has been such a challenging year for many, it is hoped that this event will provide some light, joy and comfort and a chance to reflect, apart…. but together."

Choirs involved in the concert include the Senior Carols Choir from Culford School, near Bury St Edmunds, and a performance by 400 alumni from the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

Director of Music at Culford School, Peter Burge, added: "Culford School are delighted to be taking part in this festive concert to celebrate and support the work of the East Anglian Air Ambulance. We have had many connections with this wonderful organisation over the years and it is a pleasure to be involved in such a special occasion. We have recorded an original setting of some beautiful words written by Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924). We hope this gentle lullaby will help provide some much-needed calm and reflection in these difficult times. We wish everyone a very happy Christmas."
