Michele Philpott from South Walsham, tearoom manager at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, is Braving the Shave with her sister Elizabeth Lazell from Cantley at Fairhaven, 10.30am on Tuesday, September 18, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and support their sister Bernadette Philpott, from Gorleston, who has cancer.

Michele and Elizabeth will have their hair shaved off on the tearoom balcony at Fairhaven during a morning tea party, which will be raising money for the Louise Hamilton Centre at James Paget Hospital.

Michele's, daughter Lauren, from Gorleston is also getting involved, donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs for children and young people with hair loss.

"I felt so helpless when my sister was diagnosed with cancer and wanted to do something," said Michele. "Both Macmillan and the Louise Hamilton Centre have been a great help to Bernadette. Macmillan has provided a lot of advice to help her understand the stages in her treatment. Bernadette lost all her hair after her first chemotherapy session and she visited the Louise Hamilton Centre, who provided her with a choice of wigs and gave her make up advice, along with a pack of make up to take home."

"My sister Elizabeth and I are hoping to raise £1000 for Macmillan from Brave the Shave, in addition, all money raised at the morning tea party will be donated to the Louise Hamilton Centre."

The Fairhaven Morning Tea Party runs from 9am to 1pm on September 18. Fairhaven will be providing the cups of tea and visitors are asked to bring their own cakes and make a donation.

Louise Rout, General Manager, Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden said: "We are very pleased to get involved with Michele's fundraising work and hope that we have a good turnout at our morning tea party to provide a helping hand to Michele and Elizabeth as they Brave the Shave."
