One of English folk music's greatest ever innovators, Martin Carthy, is to appear at the Deepdale Festival in September, heading a line-up of more than 30 of the best original musicians from East Anglia and far beyond.

Now in its third year, the growing festival is the brainchild of campsite and hostel owners Chris Haycock and Jason Borthwick. 'When we took the business at Burnham Deepdale back in 2016, one of our aims was to support fantastic live, original music on the North Norfolk Coast and the festival is one of the ways we are able to achieve that.' said Jason

Having been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and described by Q Magazine as 'arguably the greatest English folk song performer, writer, collector and editor of them all', festival music director Chris Haycock believes that 'for folk, roots and acoustic music fans in North Norfolk we have a wonderful line-up this year, and having Martin Carthy play for us is truly an opportunity not to be missed. We're so excited!'

One of folk music's greatest innovators, Martin Carthy is a ground-breaking acoustic and electric guitarist, ballad singer and an authoritative interpreter of newly composed material. He always prefers to follow an insatiable musical curiosity rather than cash in on his unrivalled position. Perhaps most significant of all though, are his settings of traditional songs with guitar, which have influenced a generation of artists, including Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, on both sides of the Atlantic.

The festival takes place over the weekend of 27th - 29th September at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping in Burnham Deepdale on the North Norfolk coast. The full programme will be announced during April.
