At Pensthorpe Natural Park, near Fakenham, there's around 1,000 species of birds, animals and plants to discover, but some of the nocturnal creatures who call the nature reserve home are just waking up and venturing out as the sun sets. That's why Pensthorpe is holding a NEW after dark Creatures of the Night event on Wednesday 28 August 2019, so visitors can enjoy spotting and learning about its resident bats, moths and owls.

Taking place between 8pm and 10.30pm, with the option of having a pre-event dinner at 7pm, this event is a rare opportunity to go 'behind the scenes' and join the Pensthorpe team for a sensory after-dark discovery of the nature reserve, highlighting some of the wildlife in the unique Wensum Valley location.

Richard Spowage, Pensthorpe's Reserve Manager, said: "Visitors will be able to experience the sights and sounds of the reserve at night as we head out with spotlight torches and a bat detector to discover some nocturnal animals. We hope to see bats over the water and in the meadow, hear tawny owls calling, as well as the sound of ducks and geese flying in the darkness. There is a possibility of seeing deer in the open and badgers and hedgehogs foraging for food. We also hope to visit one of our moth traps, weather permitting."

Dinner is optional at 7pm. £13.95pp members (no dinner) / £16.95pp non members (no dinner). £19.95pp members (dinner) / £22.95pp non members (dinner).

Please note that there is a limited capacity of 25 people for this event, so booking is essential.

For those wanting to make a day of it, please note that this price does not include entry into the reserve, but a reduced rate of £8 per person can be enjoyed on the day.
