Dalegate Market finalist in "The Rural Oscars"

Two Norfolk businesses are celebrating after being listed as finalists in the Countryside Alliance Awards, ‘The Rural Oscars’.  Friends Crawford White, of G. F. White Butchers in Aylsham, and Jason Borthwick, of Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale, have won awards in the past, but to be finalists in the hotly contested national awards is superb news.

“We’ve won the regional butcher award in the past, but to be up for the national award is great.  Fingers crossed we’ll be celebrating with Jason and the Dalegate Market team in April, when we all attend the awards ceremony at Westminster.” Said Crawford.

The Maids Head Hotel flushed with success

The Maids Head Hotel in Norwich has won best English hotel loo, in the Loo of the Year Awards 2015.

In addition to winning the National Award for Hotels in England, the Maids Head’s toilets received top Platinum grading and a special Attendant of the Year Award for cleanliness.

The Loo of the Year Awards, www.loo.co.uk, have been identifying the best in Britain since 1987, and are recognised as standard setters for all those who provide ‘away from home’ facilities for staff, customers and visitors.

One of my vocal students, the incredibly talented 12 year old Breeze Redwine from Starston, had recently made it to the grand final of TeenStar 2015, the UK’s biggest search for teenage and pre-teen singers. I’m really excited to say that she was the winner in her category! I was so proud that she performed my song ‘Here Alone’ to a capacity crowd at Birmingham’s NEC, an acoustic song which she had recently recorded at the Mill Studio near Diss.

Green Flag awards in North Norfolk

Holt Country Park, Sadler’s Wood and Pretty Corner, near Sheringham, have again been named amongst the best open spaces in the UK, winning the right to fly the prestigious Green Flag for 2015/16.

It is the eleventh year in a row that Holt Country Park, which, like the other two winners, is run by North Norfolk District Council (NNDC), has earned a Green Flag for being welcoming, safe, clean and well-managed.
