East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is calling on Norfolk to Get Up and Go Yellow from home this June, to help keep the life-saving charity’s yellow helicopters flying and saving lives.

Get Up and Go Yellow for East Anglian Air Ambulance normally takes place on a set day in June and is targeted at workplaces and schools.

This year the charity is asking its supporters to get involved from home anytime during June, to safely support this fundraising campaign during the Covid-19 pandemic.

By taking part and texting YELLOWUP to 70085*, local people will be able to donate £2 to the campaign and help to raise vital funds and awareness for the helicopter emergency medical service.

Every Friday throughout June East Anglian Air Ambulance will be posting a different yellow-themed challenge on its social media channels to encourage a bit of friendly rivalry between supporters and share different yellow-themed ideas to aid fundraising. (Follow East Anglian Air Ambulance on TwitterFacebook or Instagram to see the challenges and take part!)

Leanne Kershaw, Events Manager at EAAA, said: “We can’t wait to see what our supporters get up to for this month-long Get Up and Go Yellow challenge. As all of our normal fundraising events and community fundraising activities have been cancelled, we’re hoping the local community will back this fun and easy way to support us from home and help to keep our yellow helicopters, and rapid response vehicles, operating and saving lives.

“Wear yellow, eat something yellow, organise an online yellow-themed party with your family and friends or take part in one of our weekly yellow challenges – there are loads of options. Just remember to text YELLOWUP to 70085 and you will be helping us to save lives by donating £2 to East Anglian Air Ambulance. Check out our website for more ideas and resources, such as yellow EAAA bunting you can make at home, and have fun this June while staying safe!”

EAAA has two helicopters and operates from Norwich and Cambridge, providing critical care across East Anglia. The charity helps almost 2,000 patients a year who are affected by a life-changing or life-threatening incident or medical emergency and need critical care from its highly-trained doctors and paramedics. EAAA needs to raise £13 million a year to develop and deliver its life-saving service.

Remember: Watch EAAA’s social media channels on Friday afternoons for the weekly challenges.

Donate by texting YELLOWUP to 70085*

*Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text YELLOWUPNOINFO to 70085.
