Latest updates from Tia's Treasures

Nearly 8 years on and Tia is still working hard raising awareness and fundraising for Epilepsy along with her Mum, Dad and 5 Brothers Alex 15, Adam 10, Jamie 9, Tommy 3 and Toby 1.

Tia recently made and sold over 100 purple bracelets for Purple Day and held a raffle at her Academy, Ormiston Venture with some fantastic prizes from various local companies.

Over £200 was raised for Young Epilepsy.

We have just funded our 9th Seizure Alarm for an 8 year old boy called DeeJay with Epilepsy, sadly DeeJay's baby brother died when he went into Epileptic Status at just a few months old.

We unfortunately haven't been able to organise anything on a large scale to celebrate and fund raise for the Tia's Treasures 8th Birthday on 21st May due to Toby and his health resulting in appointments every month either for his Epilepsy, Allergies, Hearing or latest diagnosis Willis Ebkom Disease (also known as Restless Legs Syndrome) but we do plan to decorate and hide some Tia's Treasures 8th Birthday themed Norfolk Rocks as well as Random Acts of Kindness.

We now have 2 fundraising pages set up one where funds go straight to Young Epilepsy

and one which is to fund Seizure Alarms for those in need

Tia would love to fund another Seizure Alarm to someone in need by Tia's Treasures 8th Birthday.
Recently PulseGuard which is a Family run company based in Kent heard about Tia's Treasures and kindly gifted Toby a new alarm as his previous mattress alarm is only for Tonic Clonic Seizures and Toby has begun to have other types especially at night, the new alarm is very reliable and reassuring and allows us to download data and we are very grateful for the generosity.

  • Fundraising News from Tia's Treasures

Tia's Treasures Young Epilepsy JustGiving Page is currently at 80% of our £1000 target.

We had planned to hold a Fundraising event of some kind to celebrate Tia's Treasures 9th Birthday on 21st May to hopefully reach our target but due to the current situation with Covid 19/Corona Virus this unfortunately wasn't possible.

We have been thinking of ways how we could raise the last £200 to achieve our £1000 target from the comfort of our home and I have decided to brave the shave, I've dyed my hair purple many times since 2018 for Epilepsy Awareness so why not go that step further to raise funds?

  • Random Acts of Kindness from Tia's Treasures Team

The Tia's Treasures Team are proud to be a part of a new game called Hit the Ambulance, it doesn't involve physically hitting ambulances as the name may suggest but its all about showing our appreciation to the Ambulance Crew by leaving notes of appreciation and gifts on the windscreens of Ambulances.

A group has been set up on Facebook by a lady called Tracy from Leicester and within 3 days reached over 10k members, as a Raktivist through the work we do with Tia's Treasures I've been invited to become an Admin on the Hit the Ambulance Gamers Facebook Group.  The facebook group is https://www.facebook.com/groups/500377094231257/

  • Tia's Treasures New Year Update

Since 2018 when Toby the youngest member of the Team was diagnosed with Epilepsy after 5 Tonic Clonic Seizures resulting in 999 calls and trips to A&E followed by Children's Ward at The James Paget University Hospital we have focused on raising awareness for Epilepsy as well as raising funds for Young Epilepsy and Seizure Alarms, we funded Seizure Alarm number 14 in November which was great timing as November is Epilepsy Awareness month.

Toby is now just over 2 and his Tonic Clonic Seizures are quite controlled but he still has Focal Seizures and Clonic Seizures a lot of which are at night so we realise the importance of Seizure Alarms for peace of mind.

  • Latest News from Tia's Treasures

As 2019 is coming to an end we thought we would update you on what the Tia's Treasures Team has been up to.

Since 2018 when Toby the youngest member of the Team was diagnosed with Epilepsy after 5 Tonic Clonic Seizures resulting in 999 calls and trips to hospital we have focused on raising awareness for Epilepsy as well as raising funds for Young Epilepsy and Seizure Alarms, we funded Seizure Alarm number 13 in July and would love to fund Seizure Alarm number 14 by the end of November as November is Epilepsy Awareness month.

Toby is now 2 and his Tonic Clonic Seizures are quite controlled but he still has Focal Seizures and Clonic Seizures a lot of which are at night so we realise the importance of Seizure Alarms for peace of mind.

Toby has also been diagnosed with Allergies, Restless Legs Syndrome and has had a couple of hospital stays and reoccurring Chest Infections.

  • Tia's Treasures Update

So far Tia has raised over £500 for Young Epilepsy, £200 for The East of England and funded 2 Pulse Oximeters, 3 Brio Wrist Alarms, 1 Alert It Mattress Alarm, 1 Emfit Mattress Alarm, 1 Empatica Embrace Wrist Alarm and 2 Cameras to monitor those with Nocturnal Seizures.

Toby's original diagnosis back in May 2018 was Focal Seizures and Focal Motor Seizures which generalise into Tonic Clonics, since then he has been on daily medication but still has various types of seizures, Myclonus, treated for Asthma and now undergoing investigations for food allergies or intollerances but he remains a happy mischievous toddler.

As November was National Epilepsy Awareness Month Tia created a flyer with information regarding Epilepsy highlighting the seriousness of it and that there is no cure to be given out and displayed you may have spotted it in local shops.
