Pleased to see you’ campaign launches across South Norfolk and Broadland

Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils are helping local businesses to bounce back with their ‘Pleased to see you’ campaign, which launched last week.

The campaign aims to support local shops, hairdressers, outdoor dining venues and other local retailers that reopened on 12 April when the government lifted some of the lockdown restrictions.

Shoppers and visitors will see brightly coloured bunting, posters and banners in towns and surrounding villages, that encourage people to shop locally and stay safe.

Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils’ Director of Place Phil Courtier said: “We are supporting our businesses to bounce back and get those tills ringing again, so we are encouraging people to use their local high streets and shops, but to do so in a safe and secure way.”

As well as helping to make local shops and amenities attractive to visitors, the councils are also re-emphasising the 'Hands Face Space' messaging to help avoid any further surges or a return to lockdown.

The councils’ COVID Support Advisors have been visiting businesses, providing bunting and non-slip floor stickers and posters, including ‘Please wear your mask’ signage to display on doors and windows. The campaign is also running on all of the councils’ social media channels.

To further support businesses and boost customer confidence, the councils are offering businesses the chance to take part in a COVID Safe Certification process. This will lead to a certificate that they can put on prominent display, once they have met the requirements and had this validated during a visit from a member of the councils' Environmental Health team.

Phil Courtier said: “The reaction from the local businesses has been really positive and we are working together to look at other ways we can continue to support our businesses over the coming weeks and months.”

The campaign forms part of the councils’ ongoing support to businesses. Over the past year, the two councils have distributed over £100 million of grant funding to qualifying businesses, to help lessen the financial impact of the pandemic.
