Makers’ Month returns to The Forum

Norfolk’s ‘makers’ are taking over The Forum, in Norwich, from Monday 30 January – Saturday 25 February to help people learn how to knit, spin, weave, sew, crochet, sketch, paint and many other ‘crafty’ skills. 

Makers’ Month is open to all, with free drop-in activities, bookable workshops and textile based exhibitions for curious beginners through to talented enthusiasts. Visitors to The Forum throughout February can find inspiration, like-minded company and plenty of experienced makers, all of them keen to share top tips and techniques.

Makers’ Month is also a great event for families during February half term with plenty of free hands-on activities for young people.

Norwich Science Festival

The inaugural city-wide Norwich Science Festival has today announced its first wave of headline talks and events.

For two weeks this autumn, science is celebrated with a packed programme of fascinating exhibitions, hands-on family activities, inspiring celebrity talks and noisy theatrical shows for all ages and all levels of scientific knowledge.

The festival takes place 18 – 30 October 2016 and is being organised by The Forum, Norwich, with the support of many partner organisations.

Norwich 20 Group (N20G) is staging two major exhibitions at The Forum and The Undercroft (below the War Memorial) in Norwich during July, 
Eastern Horizons at The Forum, from Monday 4 to Friday 15 July, which is the 72nd N20G annual exhibition, will showcase work by 70 artists including new members Carolyn MacArthur and Thea Hickling and will feature paintings, sculptures, limited edition prints, digital art, moving images and installations. Amanda Geitner, Director of East Anglia Art Fund, is curating the exhibition. N20G members will be present every day, between 10am and 6pm, to talk to visitors about their art. The show will feature work by recent Norwich University of the Arts graduates Josh Harbord and Jack Mackenzie, who have been invited to join the group for a year, participate at meetings and exhibit alongside the members.

Last chance to see GoGoDragons!

By the end of Saturday 5th September the dragons will be removed from their resting places and taken back to dragon’s lair to be pampered and polished ready for their next exciting activity.

Some of the dragons have had a few scratches and scuffs, and some have had a little more damage which all needs to be sorted prior to the 27th September when for 4 days only the dragons will all be together for one last burst of excitement both outside and inside the Forum.

From Mid day on Sunday 27th September, then daily all day we will have merchandise for sale including 5 figurines of Morgan, Ashman, Cavell, Draco and Patch, as well as the final stock of t shirts, hats, games, mugs and magnets as stock lasts.

Prepare to be Amazed!

A live car-cutting exercise at The Forum, a rope rescue down the front of the building and police search dogs in action are just some of the wow-factor activities on offer as part of this year’s Norfolk Prepared Week.

This year’s multi-agency approach to ensuring we each do what we can to prepare for an emergency will feature a smorgasbord of events to show how the different emergency responders all come to the rescue.

The Havago Festival

Cordelia Spalding and Alison Atkins are an Arts Collaboration “"ME AND ER" that specialise in public participatory and outreach programmes. They have been working together for four years,  trailing our little horsebox across the county offering the public a chance to "havago" at something Arty or creative. 

Havago is a celebration of the creative skills that are right here in Norfolk! Illustrators, weavers, fashion Designers, hat makers, Furniture Designers, Musicians, dancers etc
