The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Marion Maxwell officially opened the Eighth in the East’s new touring exhibition, at the Maids Head Hotel in Norwich, on Friday 23 September. The exhibition is at the hotel until Thursday 6 October.  

The Eighth in the East is a three-year Heritage Lottery Fund project exploring the legacy of the 8th USAAF The exhibition shares the social and landscape history of a time when our region was known as ‘Little America’. 
 
The Lord Mayor of Norwich said: “Since World War II, the City has had a long and happy relationship with American servicemen and their families, welcoming them back to Norwich and Norfolk. We are very fortunate to have the Second Air Division Memorial Library at The Forum in Norwich, along with its digital archive, ensuring that the story of the friendly invasion is never forgotten.”

Norwich Science Festival

The inaugural city-wide Norwich Science Festival has today announced its first wave of headline talks and events.

For two weeks this autumn, science is celebrated with a packed programme of fascinating exhibitions, hands-on family activities, inspiring celebrity talks and noisy theatrical shows for all ages and all levels of scientific knowledge.

The festival takes place 18 – 30 October 2016 and is being organised by The Forum, Norwich, with the support of many partner organisations.

River Waveney Sculpture Trail

Waveney & Blyth Arts’ River Waveney Sculpture Trail returns for the second year this summer to the River Waveney Trust near Bungay, opening on Friday, August 14.
 
The Sculpture Trail, which is supported by Essex & Suffolk Water’s Branch Out fund and is curated by Norfolk artist and curator, Sarah Cannell, will feature 40 new sculptures and installations from 32 artists that respond to the beauty of this stunning part of the River Waveney. The river Waveney Sculpture trail is open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from August 14th to September 6th and August Bank Holiday Monday from 10am to 4pm. Entry is £4 for adults, under 18's free and £3 for members of Waveney & Blyth Arts and River Waveney Trust. Venue address is the River Waveney Study Centre, Old Harleston Road, Earsham, Bungay, NR35 2AF.

Maritime Exhibition and Walks

Staff at King's Lynn Custom House have organised a week of Maritime walks and exhibitions to help promote the town in celebration of English Tourism Week.

The events are designed to showcase the town's history and maritime heritage and highlight what the town has to offer for tourists and visitors.
